The Sunnyvale Police Department was established in November of 2019 and has taken over operations 24/7. The Sunnyvale Police Department dispatches through the City of Seagoville. Non emergency number is (972) 226-4606. Dial 911 for emergencies.

The Sunnyvale Police Department is accredited through the Texas Police Chiefs Association's Best Practices Recognition Program, meaning the department meets or exceeds all of the program's identified best practices for Texas law enforcement.
The department achieved its accreditation on May 7, 2021.

Andrew Hawkes
Chief of PolicePhone: 972-203-0312Chief Hawkes is a 30 year veteran of law enforcement. Prior to becoming the Chief of Police for the Town of Sunnyvale, Chief Hawkes served as the police chief for the City of Jacksonville, Texas from 2016-2019. Prior to serving in Jacksonville, He spent 25 years in the DFW area before retiring as a Lieutenant for the Collin County Sheriff's Office.
Chief Hawkes holds a Master's degree in criminal justice administration from UT Dallas and a Bachelor's degree from Dallas Baptist University. He is a graduate of the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas and a Certified Public Manager.
